Meanwhile, GDP growth slumped to 1.5% in Q2’18 from 1.95% in Q1’18. Even though GDP growth rate has remained positive for five consecutive quarters, it remains lower than the population growth rate of 2.7%. The slowdown in growth could be a key consideration in determining the direction of interest rates at the next MPC meeting on September 24/25.
