Edo State Tourism Digest – Edition 2

Dear Subscriber,

Palliatives as a Poison Chalice

Just as we grapple with the price of petrol at N617 per litre and the consequences of the Naira at N875/$, many believe that the promised palliative package is another mirage (scam).

Be that as it may, there is a silver lining behind the dark economic cloud. The FGN and States received a bumper windfall in June, with revenues up 149% to N1.96 trillion. We expect contractors to be delighted as their debts get settled and many new projects commence.

Edo State has kicked off its Gele Gele Port Project with Portuguese technical know-how. The return of the Portuguese as builders, 500 years after they first came as slave merchants, marks an interesting transition from the dark past to a bright future.

This edition of With Love, From Edo (Tourism Digest), lays it out for you as we go into the August break season after a very rainy July.

Enjoy your read!
