Blazing the trail, with our publication, “With Love from Edo”, the focus on the rich culture, and the embedded skills of sculpting, Edo State is now becoming more famous for the right reasons.
47 years ago, Nigeria held the Second Festival of Black Arts and Culture, famously known as (FESTAC’77)—a momentous event many still talk about today.
The auspicious event embodied and amplified the rich culture and talent domiciled in Nigeria in general and Edo State in particular. The focal point of the festival was the Queen Idia ivory mask, sculpted by the legendary Erhabor Emokpae.
Erhabor remains an icon amongst sculptors from a guild of gifted hands at the epicentre of Igun Street in Benin City.
