Nigeria produces 67,000tonnes of dry chilli and is the 5th largest producer in SSA. However, its contribution to export revenues is insignificant. Chilli is used by many manufacturers as an ingredient for seasoning, condiments etc. With additional investment, the production of Chilli in commercial quantity could become a major source of forex revenue in the medium to long term.
