Less cash, tougher sales

Nigeria’s money supply (M3) dropped by 0.56% to ₦110.32tn in February 2025 as the CBN tightened liquidity to curb inflationary pressures and stabilize the foreign exchange market. For small businesses—kiosk owners, traders, and every day retailers—this liquidity squeeze could dampen consumer spending, leading to slower sales and weaker cash flow. As disposable income shrinks, price-sensitive customers may shift toward essentials, forcing businesses to adjust pricing strategies or introduce discounts to stimulate demand.  Additionally, tighter access to credit could also make it harder for individuals to borrow for business or personal needs, further restraining demand.

This edition of the Unity Bank Digest provides a comprehensive analysis of these economic trends and engaging lifestyle and entertainment stories for your reading pleasure.
