THE UNITY BANK DIGEST – SEPTEMBER 04, 2023

Dear Subscriber,

A great mood will multiply your productivity!

Mental health is key to our overall well-being. It shapes how we think, feel, and act. It also influences how well we handle stress, connect with others, and make choices. J.D. Salinger, the author of the classic novel “The Catcher in the Rye”, wrote, “If you are not in the mood, you can’t do that stuff right.”

Given our busy and hectic lifestyles, it becomes essential at times to pause, eliminate distractions, and concentrate on what genuinely brings us joy and vitality. In this edition of Unity Bank Digest’s lifestyle section, we reveal five easy lifestyle changes that can help boost your mood and improve your mental health.

Nigerians are embattled

As the nation grapples with food insecurity, exacerbated by the shutdown of over 50 rice mills in Kano, consumers find themselves facing yet another harsh increase in food prices. A bag of rice now sells for ₦61,000, 10.9% above ₦55,000 in July.

Thankfully, the federal government stepped in to provide a ₦5 billion relief fund and delivered five truckloads of rice to each state to ease the cost of living crisis. While these measures are welcome, they fall short of adequately addressing the depth of food insecurity in Nigeria.

This Unity Bank Digest brings you an insightful analysis of these economic trends as well as some lifestyle and entertainment stories for your reading pleasure.
